Solid bed base
This smart base is one of the best on. the market but, if you don't need all the bells and whistles then get the model under this and save some money. I wish this model had the lumbar massage motor like the older model was a little cheaper.
First time using an adjustable base
I'll break this down to multiple parts since there's a few different experiences with the smart base. Pluses: The adjustable height of the bed with the leg extensions is a nice option for set up of the bed. I also like the material of the Extend smart base, which means I don't feel like I need to rush to get decorative rails for my bed. And I was surprised by how much more comfortable and good sleep is in the elevated positions. As someone with sleep apnea, this feels like its improving the quality of my sleep. The downsides... its nearly impossible to keep top sheets in place on this thing and even the fitted sheets tend to pull away from the corners with adjustments. Because mattresses don't conform to the base on their own, my Tempur mattress will pop up away from the frame when adjusted and that may make it pop up and past the restraining bar at the base of the bed. The "smart" sleep monitoring is pretty useless unfortunately. I frequently get app notifications that it can't connect to the network anymore and I'm seemingly needing to unplug it to reboot it. While the emailed reports are visually nice, they don't seem accurate at all. It doesn't show me as awake for the times I know I'm awake and tossing and turning or getting up out of bed. I rely on sleep monitoring through my Apple Watch instead since the data from the Smart Bed doesn't seem good at all and way overly optimistic. Maybe thats a marketing thing of wanting to make the sleep sound better than it really is. I'd gladly pay less to drop this feature. Or tie the data in with wearables for more accurate data.
Short on post-sale service
The bed is comfortable and is functioning well. At installation, however, we were not asked if the adjustable height was correct. When we called Temper-Pedic to request this be adjusted, we were told they would not service it. The issue is that my wife is shorter in stature and the bed comes up to about her waist. After we were told no one would come out, we attempted to fix the problem ourselves but at least one of the leg components would not readily unscrew.
I cannot get the sleep tracker app to work properly.
I am very frustrated because I still cannot get the sleep tracker software installed properly. I was under the assumption that the delivery technicians would have everything installed and all the hardware working to where I could use the sleep tracker, but in my situation that is that is not the case.
Very Nice Product!
The only reason for the 4 stars is because of poor setup at which caused me to call-in a repair call for my USB ports, at which was never connected at setup. And I've had an experience of the vibration function, and bed adjusting position on its own with the remote on my dresser and I was laying in the bed but wide awake.
