Sleeping Girl on the bed

If you want to get a great night of sleep, you have to arm yourself with a high-quality mattress. Luckily, the iComfort Sleep System brings all of the best features of a Serta mattress together with new technology that revolutionizes the way you get to sleep. Keep reading to see how the iComfort will improve every aspect of your sleeping, and waking, life:

It Has Gel Memory Foam Memory foam mattresses offer the support your body needs to stay comfortable while asleep. Memory foam is more likely to retain heat, however, which is why Serta created the Cool Action™ Gel Memory Foam. Not only does this mattress relieve pressure points on your body, but also keeps you nice and cool throughout the night.

It Can Resist Allergens With its antimicrobial and dust mite resistance, the iComfort is able to protect your bed from allergens that can affect your health. Updating to this mattress can actually reduce allergic reactions, like congestion and respiratory problems.

It Comes with a 120-Day In-Home Trial This Serta mattress has such a high success rate that it comes with a trial period of 120 days. In this time, you can test out the mattress to make sure it really meets all of your sleeping needs. If you are not completely in love, you can return or exchange the mattress.

It Has a 25-Year Limited Warranty Serta is so confident in the iComfort Sleep System that they include a 25-year limited warranty. You can finally own a mattress that helps you get to sleep and a warranty that ensures you will be able to enjoy blissful rest for many, many years.

The Evolution of Comfort in Mattress Technology

Mattress Foam, sponge

With so many mattress choices available today, from adjustable to gel memory foam mattresses, it can be hard to imagine sleeping as our ancestors did—on piles of straw, leaves, or animal skins. Luckily, the evolution of the mattress has brought consumers some truly innovative and comfortable selections using space-age materials to ensure a relaxing night’s sleep. Would you like to know more about the evolution of comfort in mattress technology? Read on to learn more.

In the early 18th century, mattresses began to be constructed of more comfortable fabrics such as cotton and linen.  Instead of straw—commonly used as a stuffing previously, while the wealthy often used feathers—coconut fiber, cotton, wool, and horsehair were used as stuffing for mattresses.

In the late 19th century, the box spring was invented, which significantly extended a mattress’ life by evenly distributing weight and absorbing shock.

In 1926, the company Dunlop invented the means to produce latex foam from vulcanized rubber. At first, this breakthrough was only sold to British royalty, though it soon became extremely popular and widespread.

In the 1930s, the innerspring mattress became popular, and encased-coil spring mattresses were first introduced.

In the 1960s, the waterbed gained widespread use. Together with the air mattress, these adjustable beds became quite fashionable.

In 1992, Tempur-Pedic introduced the world’s first mattress made of memory foam, which had been invented in the 1970s by NASA. The memory foam mattress raised the bar for mattress comfort, and memory foam is still used today.

In 2011, Serta unveiled the iComfort mattress, a gel memory foam mattress that solves the problem that many consumers experience with memory foam: its tendency to trap heat. The iComfort mattress features open-cell memory foam that is breathable, allowing air to flow through it and keep sleepers cooler.

Is that Old Mattress Causing Your Neck or Back Pain Woes?

nechache

If you suffer from back pain, you’re definitely not alone. Back pain is one of the most common complaints at doctors’ offices and hospitals across the nation. While some back pain is caused by working conditions or accidents, many people suffer from back pain simply due to poor-quality mattresses. Should you switch from your old mattress to a new memory foam mattress? Read on to find out.

Is your mattress old? While you may save money by using a secondhand or older mattress, you certainly aren’t doing your back any favors. An old bed will lose support over years of use, causing it to sag and fail to properly support your spine. When your spine is not kept properly aligned during sleep, this can easily lead to back and neck pain. It is very important to maintain a natural or neutral alignment in the hips and spinal column when resting or sleeping.

Is your mattress lumpy? Lumpy mattresses, like sagging mattresses, can cause back and neck pain by allowing your spine to bend, which strains your muscles, joints, and ligaments. The support of a good mattress will allow the hips and spine to recover from daily abuses from standing, sitting, bending, and twisting. Sleeping nightly on a non-supportive mattress will only add to daily stressors and lead to back pain and stiffness.

Does your back or neck usually hurt more in the morning? If your chronic lower back pain and stiffness, sciatic nerve pain, mid-back pain, or neck pain is consistently worse in the morning, a non-supportive mattress is likely to blame.

Are you ready to make the switch from an old, non-supportive mattress to a comfortable new one? If so, look no further than Mancini’s Sleepworld, where our dedicated personnel can help you find the perfect mattress for you. Call us at (800) 641-5337 for answers to any questions you may have.
